Knowing When to Quit an Idea

Persistence is celebrated. Knowing when to stop is rarer and often more valuable.

The culture worships persistence. Never give up, push through, grind it out. The advice is half right and dangerous in the other half.

Some ideas deserve to be abandoned, and clinging to them out of pride wastes years a faster pivot would have saved.

The skill is telling a hard idea worth finishing from a dead one worth burying.

An Honest Signal

If the only thing keeping an idea alive is how much you have already invested, that is sunk cost, not conviction.

Quitting the wrong thing quickly frees you to find the right one.
